When your pet is sick or injured, it takes a special kind of person to resolve your immediate concerns and offer the kind of support that alleviates your worry. Our Member Care agents are those unique people.
Nationwide Member Care agents are committed to delivering extraordinary care to our members day in and day out. Many of our team members come from a veterinary background, bringing to the job medical knowledge along with their love and compassion for animals. It’s no surprise that a lot of our agents are also pet owners themselves—and many are members, too.
Let’s meet two of our Member Care team members.
Have you had positive or memorable experiences with members?
I’ve had many memorable experiences with our members! I am a helper by nature, so doing my best to resolve issues is how I feel best utilized.
I worked as a veterinary technician before coming to Nationwide, and I was able to create a lot of great memories with clients. My favorite part was building trust with our pet parents. When I started as a Member Care agent, I was worried that I wouldn't be able to create those relationships or really help people and their pets—but I’ve found that it’s quite the opposite.
The moments that mean the most to me—and usually make me cry—are when members are calling in to let us know their pet has passed. [It’s] such a sensitive time, but I get to hear the wonderful memories these members have of their pets. I enjoy getting to talk about how connected members are with their pets and to hear, in their voices, the love that they have.
Do you have pet insurance for your pet?
I’ve had pet insurance with Nationwide since we brought Maggie Mae home as a new puppy—and thankfully so!
When Maggie was about 4 months old, she got a really bad case of pneumonia, and was hospitalized in an oxygen cage at an emergency facility for three days. Then, about three months later, Maggie Mae quit eating and was just not acting right. [We went] to the emergency hospital again to discover that she had been eating small rocks. She was hospitalized again and had 11 stones removed from her tummy via endoscope.
Thankfully, knowing that we had pet insurance, we did not have to hesitate with her treatment plan. She is now a happy healthy 11-month-old poodle puppy—thanks in part to Nationwide.
