February is National Pet Dental Health month, an annual event established by the American Veterinary Medical Association to help get the word out about the importance of pet oral hygiene.

Regular brushing does more than keep your pet’s breath fresh and clean—it can help to prevent serious illness. Brushing should be considered a regular part of your pet care routine, but it’s very easy to let it slip.

Brushing your pet’s teeth at home doesn’t need to be a major undertaking. With a little practice, you can help fight back tartar that leads to serious gum conditions, root exposure and tooth loss. Some vets recommend brushing your dog’s pearly whites every day, just like you do your own.
