Some advice from last year's Wacky Pet Name favorites: "Have fun. Make it a fun thing. Try these tips when choosing a name: - **Use hard consonants and vowels.** These are easier for pets to hear and respond to. - **Try limiting to one or two syllables.** Finding a nickname is often a good idea for longer names. - **Avoid names that sound like commands.** Subtle phonetic differences can confuse pets. - **Test the name out first.** Make sure you’re comfortable saying the name loudly in public. \*Name ranking based on pets enrolled with Nationwide pet insurance in 2022. ![](https://companionpetmagazine.com/hubfs/AdobeStock_205702776%20(1800x1000).jpg) ### Enjoy Nationwide Perks The Nationwide Perks program introduces great deals and discounts to pamper your pets and more.
