It’s that wacky, wild time again: We’re celebrating the wackiest pet names of the year!
We combed through more than 200,000 new pets who enrolled with Nationwide to select the kookiest canine, funkiest feline and nuttiest exotic pet names for our Wacky Pet Name campaign. Who brought home the title this year?
Introducing the wackiest names of 2024
The vote was held over four days from April 9-12, 2024. Thirty pets in total were spotlighted this year—and over 10,000 votes later, we have our winners:
Molly from Corporate, a large mixed-breed dog from Arkansas with a name that’s straight from the home office. Despite her corporate name, she’s the embodiment of a “farm dog” with her playful spirit.
Tony "Scarface" Baloney, a mixed domestic shorthair cat from Oregon who was originally named for the Scarface anti-hero—but when he arrived at his fur-ever home, his family added a silly twist to better match his personality.
Thor Odinbun, God of Bunder, is a Holland Lop bunny from New York with a Marvel-ous name inspired by Norse legend and a pun-derful recreation of Edward of Norwich's list of 1,000 dog names. Thor Odinbun was #460 on the new list of names created by this pet parent, but it’s #1 on our wacky scale!
Congratulations to our wackiest pet names of 2024! Our winners received prizes that include a photo shoot and a custom canvas portrait of their pet. Keep an eye on our Wacky Pet Names blog for more on these wacky pets.
A big thank you to everyone who voted and, of course, our ever-creative members for their wacky naming inspiration! Check out all the nominees and their stories at petinsurance.com/wackypetnames.
